Too many companies make common but easily avoidable mistakes in their
hiring and subsequent management of employees.
The success of companies like IBM, Microsoft and
Google is tied almost directly to their initial acquisition,
care, development and retention of employees.
While we often give lip service to the concept that
employees are our greatest asset, few companies actually
treat them that way, and in the case of IBM and Microsoft,
both are clearly off the game pace they set when they first
